Girl at the End of the World Poetry Reading

Abstract Summary/Description
Girl at the End of the World is my second full-length poetry collection largely written while in my PhD program here at GSU. The book explores grief after my father died from an overdose after a years long battle with addiction to opioids. The book explores the ways addiction destroys families and changes loved ones with an empathetic approach. Since this epidemic of opioid addiction has destroyed many families and communities, I wanted to write about my story to bring awareness and understanding to a taboo subject. For this presentation, I would like to do a reading from the book. I would read a selection of poems and provide a little background for each, and then I will pause for questions at the end. https://www.driftwoodpress.com/our-books/girl-at-the-end-of-the-world Synopsis: Erin Carlyle’s Girl at the End of the World works through a father's death with a sharp focus on place, expanding into the realms of science fiction and mythmaking.
